It also behaves just like the Intel-related X crash problem I had earlier on which I fixed by changing the graphic acceleration setting, so it seems the Intel setting change took effect but will need an Intel bug fix.

Now X crashes whenever I plug the monitor back in and run Xrandr or Arandr, so it's not a random problem that interferes with my work and ironically tells me I'm close to getting it since it seems to be an Intel problem (the setting change involved changing the GPU to Intel), and those are fairly well-documented.

It's a case of breaking things in the process of fixing them-I got the monitor recognized and vertical rotation to work, but it was very sluggish and cut off near the bottom, so I tried again with a new setting and evdi-git instead of evdi. The graphics problem is with a Displaylink 2.0 second external monitor, an expected and warned-for issue that I'm working through. I also don't lock my screen yet, bad of me I know and I've been meaning to get that set up, maybe that affects things? The latter is routine now that my external monitor is set up, since I keep the laptop closed and have the built-in monitor turned off to save power and hardware life. That's an interesting problem you have recovering from suspend is instantaneous in my case whether I open the lid or wake from usb keyboard. Now it's more like 200MB on i3 alone, only breaks 1G on Termite + Firefox. Whoo, (almost) same hat! My case is eerily similar, regular use on MacOS was over 3G except my RAM is 4G so that wasn't great lmao.
